Glossary of terms

Structure
The central abstract concept in Pier. A Structure can be a Page, Component, File, Blog etc.
Page
A simple Structure dedicated to managing custom user content.
Document
The Wiki string is internally represented as an abstract tree of document objects. Every Page has at least one such document tree that can be easily traversed and converted to various output formats such as HTML, RSS, Text, LaTeX, or back to an identical Wiki string.
Component
A Structure that encapsulate logic and who’s goal is to be embedded in a Page. For example, the menu on this page is such a component that shows the main links and the active page. A component can also be any Seaside application.
Blog
A dedicated Structure that handles Posts.
Post
A Page that has several more fields and that can only be added to a Blog.
Command
An action that can be performed in the context of a Structure. Examples are: Login, Add, Edit etc.
View
A point of view from which a Structure can be rendered. By default, the Structure is seen appropriately for a browser. However, when a View is needed.
